Opening as a middle school in 1928, Sunnyside was built on donated land.  The piece of land that was donated specifically for use as a school.   The school was closed in the 1970′s due to low enrollment.  Since the property is no longer being used as a school there is a dispute as to the ownership of the property.

The Marion was built in 1908 and is one of the few buildings remaining near the time of statehood. The Marion boasted deluxe single and double rooms for rent and long term living in it’s heyday. The three story wooden structure has been boarded up for decades. The roof and inside structure are both in poor conditions.
