Driven past it many times, and looked, but never stopped to check it out. Looks like easy access from the neighborhood behind it. I know its not super creepy and cool like underground tunnels and such, but I was just wondering.

I drove by there just yesterday and was wondering if anyone had been in there.

Never been in it. Screen is obviously gone, but the projector building is still there. Anyones guess if it still has anything in it.

I was talking to an older man that has lived in Broken Arrow his whole life. He said he remembered the drive in quite well from his childhood. It was called the 51 drive in and opened in 1953. He told me several interesting stories of his teenage year there and says that he believes the property is still in the original family.

After doing a little looking I found this..

I was just at DQ a couple days ago and was thinking about getting in there. Somebody needs to do it.

I agree. I stopped by the other day and I think I could slip in by the gate but it's covered in no trespassing signs and has a barbed wire fence all the way around. There was evidence that trucks have been going in and out of the west gate.

The man who owned it died right around when it closed down in 1993.

Barbed wire fence? Well, then I guess we will never get in. ;)

So it gets mowed. Why? That would be an awesome spot for a neighborhood park, or something good for the community. Skate park, anything!

It was the 51 Drive In.

I saw a lot of movies here as a kid. I can remember seeing Blade Runner there. There was a large open field under the screen where kids would gather up and various pick-up games would get started, like Baseball, Football etc. Good times. Kids don't just randomly make temporary in-the-moment friends like they used to.

The last movie I saw there was Star Trek VI - Undiscovered Country (1991). At that point I was a 22 year old. My friends and I went there with a couple of pickups loaded with pillows and blankets. Fantastic memory!
