How would one go about getting permission to explore?

Look up property records and contact the owner. Sometimes, many times actually, owners never respond or just can't be reached. At that point I figure I've done what I can and go ahead and check out the place. I mean WORST cast scenario and the cops try to pin charges on you, (correct me if I'm wrong) if the owner can't be contacted they can't press any serious charges against you.

Believe it or not I've actually had more luck getting permission for government owned properties than private ones.

Thanks for the response. That is weird that gov't owned properties are easier to get permission.

I own a number of "strange" buildings and properties, and if contacted I always try to let people tour them. Some are not used, and we check them from time to time, and are more than happy to allow access when we are there.
