Haunted Heartland

October is “Haunted Heartland” month at Abandoned Oklahoma. With Halloween approaching fast, we figured why not do something special. So, during the month of October, we will be featuring the scariest places in Oklahoma. We are not ghost hunters, and don’t have any special equipment, but some of the places we have been do come off as pretty spooky. Plus, after doing the research for these places, we have found more than one tale of ghosts or deaths at the locations. When you think of abandoned buildings, one of the first things you think about is hauntings. So its natural to feature some of these stories for you to enjoy!

I’m thinkin I may make a visit to the Hissom Memorial Center, since I’ve never actually been inside, haha crazy right?

You should definatly check it out! I cant wait to see brand new pics! especialy of the Mourge!

  3. YpsiExplorer says:

I would love it if you guys hosted a meetup! I’d love to meet other explorers from OK and share stories. I see a bunch of awesome events on UER.ca but none of them are ever in Oklahoma. It’d be sweet!

    • Fiend says:

Yeah, there are only a handful of people from Oklahoma on UER. A meetup would be cool, but would probably have to be centrally located or something since some of use are in the Tulsa area and others in the OKC area. Ive been wanting to go back to the Lincoln power plant in Ponca, I’m just gonna throw that out as a good meet up place…

  5. Joyce says:

Loved the hospital pictures, a place that was even scarey to me when it was in use.

  6. D-USA says:

I would love to meet up with some people and hopefully explore either Hissom or the Power Plant. I do a lot of night photography (some examples are on my site)and I am always looking for some good subject matter here in Oklahoma. Is there a better way to get in touch to maybe organize a meetup? Facebook or straight email?

I am interested in purchasing an old building, land or other area that can used for a haunted attraction. if you have any specific information on ideal places for sale or can give me contact information on those listed above, please feel free to email me at blaine.lippe@gmail.com

I dont have any good informantion, but I might suggest the Hissom Memorial Center in Sand Springs. Its in danger of being torn down, and its already very creepy, so there wont be much work to do haha.

  8. Citywurkor says:

A quick note on Hissom. A co-worker visited there this past weekend, and the Sand Springs police department is using it for S.W.A.T. and bomb squad training. It would probably be a good idea to get permission if you decide to go back there.

  9. Emily says:

everytime i go to hissom i get a bad vibe from there. also the lynn lane school is super freaky

  10. Ghost Hunter says:

Which is why we would love to do an investigation at Hissom.

No one knows who we should contact for Hissom???

    • Fiend says:

Its owned by the city of Sand Springs and the Sand Springs police department uses it for training. So contacting either of those would be a good start.

  11. Ghost Hunter says:

Thank you. Seems like an odd use of it … but Thank you.
