I grew up in Bartlesville and as a kid and teenager (60's/late 60's) and have been up to the mansion a number of times. Back then the roof was still on the house and the fireplace etc where still intact. Never felt any paranormal presence, etc. We'd go inside and look around, but it was nothing more than an old abandoned house. Yes, we had heard all the stories, about ghosts/haunted house etc, but they were just that, stories. I have not been there since the early 70's and from the photos, it has changed drastically.

I would love to visit that place, it looks awesome. I guess it doesn't have a <a href="http://www.yourspares.co.uk/parts/ys113173/carbon-monoxide-alarm.aspx/" rel="nofollow">carbon monoxide detector</a> fitted in it.

I was informed by a local sheriff whilst out in that area, that as of the first of the year (2012), anyone caught trespassing out on the old property will be subject to arrest and fines. Apparently, they have had too much vandalism and people leaving trash and settings fires up there and are tired of it. I was told they will be doing regular patrols of the area because of it. I thought perhaps at first he may have well been joking to ward me off from being out there, however he was quite adamant that the land owners and county are tired of the activities that take place there. So, take it for what it's worth; but I don't plan to venture up there anytime soon. There really isn't much to see considering.

I've been there 3 times, and I swore I'd never go back, when we first arrived at the graves my windshield wippers turned on by themselves, and I notices on my milage the last miles were 666, coincidence I thought, when we left the windshield wipers wouldn't turn off until we got to Bartlesville and stopped at a Quick Trip, the second time we went up there it started storming really bad, we couldn't see what was in front of us, we turned back and it just so happened that it was only storming in the Area, (not so bad) we made it back home, the third time we went we took a detour and in the middle of nowhere this blue Malibu "01 "02 cut us and honked.. We didn't think much of it until we saw her plates that ended in 666.. We flipped out and when we passed by the grave yard on the way back the gate door opened and slammed on it's own ( for those who've been at the labbadie graves know that there's a gate there)... And it couldn't have been the wind because it's a spring gate so you have to push it to open it.. That was my experience going there, I felt as it we were being warned not to go near.. But the story doesnt end there.. For weeks after I visited that place I kept on having nightmares and I always found my self back at that graveyard alone..

my book is based on facts not fiction. I feel that the years of slander of a man and his family have gone on long enough. i like many others grew up with the legend however it has changed dramatically since i first heard it in 1979. my intentions are to tell the true story because to be quite honest the legend thats currently online is rediculous.

some osu students did a documentary about 15 years ago on local legends and the labadie house was included in that. I have the tape somewhere. might see if i can dig it up and put it online. As far as most of the stories said on the place, my grandpa would tell you that most of them are nonsense. but he's very conservative in his views.

Its common knowlege how the labadies died. as for cora and mr. bowers that has taken much research.
there are numerous individuals who have been to the mansion and the fifteen hundred acres it sits on
however; how many of those individuals have spend hundreds of hours of research on this legend... i have
my novel will shed new light on this legend, when completed mr. yeazel pick up a copy I think you will find it intersting thank you

Mr. and Mrs. Labadie were found dead in their home. They had been asphyxiated by carbon-monoxide fumes from a gas burning stove with poor ventilation. Now, I been up there three times over the year and the first wo times right below the hill there was a two story log house that the Labadie live in right before they had the new house built. Now I don't think the cabin is still there anymore. But, the real stories from the papers said that they did die from asphyxiated not from a gas burning stoves but, it said that (if you seen the pictures) they fire up all of the stove in the house and didn't wait for the concrete to set. Now, they are buryed about a mile off of HWY 10 plus, the paper sad there is about 20 more grave behind their graves.
Now here something if you drive at night down the road to find the Labadie house. Will the field which to turn into the place you might just not find it but, in the day time you can. I live in copan since 1970.
