No shame on you! Tresspassing is illegal even if you are homeless. These old buildings are not yours sleep in and crap all over. Live in a proper shelter for a while, get a job, AND PAY YOUR OWN RENT! 5.75 for tobacco? Why don't you buy yourself a loaf of bread with that money so you can eat for a few days? And why the heck do you have a wordpress if you're homeless? Instead of bitching all day on the internet about how tough you have it, why don't you get up off your behind and FIX IT. Now if you're homeless, or a vietnam vet, or mentally ill, then that's okay. But the person about doesn't seem to be any of those things he just wants the feds to give him a free ride.

The Skirvin Hotel was where my husband and I spent our 40th anniversary last year. We enjoyed our stay. I have also enjoyed reading all about the Skirvin's history.
My mother claims to have purchased a large picture that hung in the Skirvin prior to it's renovation. She passed a few years ago and I now have that picture. It is large- 36"x43". The frame is gold but has a small green area close to the enterior part. The art work carries a plaque that says; Sir John Dean Paul Old England.
I was hoping someone could tell me if what my Mother told me could be true and if not could someone direct me to an information source about the art work that hung in the 'old' Skirvin Hotel.
Thank you, Joyce Spring

I stayed at the Skirvin in July 1980 with a group of friends who rented a room for a cast party after finishing a college theater production. There were so few people staying there that we wandered the halls at 2am and never saw a soul. We ended up dancing to imagined music in the old ballroom which appeared not to have been used for years. So glad that it's been restored now.

We would love to see some pictures if you have any! You can go to our submit photos page and read how to do that. If you send some, I can update the place with your new photos.

everyone in oklahoma has heard stories about the skirvin. a couple of years ago before they had started the renovation, me and some friends were walking around downtown and walked through the parking garage that is kinda atatched to the skirvin. we ran into a homeless guy who was coming out of the back door of the skirvin. we came back later that night and went inside though that door. this is truely one of the coolest abandoned buildings I have ever been to!
