Mary Williams will probably never sell, for multiple reasons. For one is for sentimental attachment of her long passed on husband, and the other is she is a hoarder. If she wanted to remember and respect her husband memory, she would sell it to someone who could rekindle those memories by rebuilding the Walcourt to the pristine and majestic stature that it once possessed. She needs to accomplish this in her life time.

No. Let's turn it into an inn! It has vast historic value and people shouldn't be alowed to permanantly live in it and risk destroying it via meth lab, arson, ect.

Dear Cari,
Do you know who owns it? I didn't think it was even owned? My family wants to buy it and turn it into an inn to reflect on its historic value. You seem to know a bit about this ol' beauty. Can you tell me everything you know about it? How much do you think it would take to, "revive" it, so to speak?
Thanks!

NO!!!! Something of this historic value shouldn't be used for something like THAT... I mean I love the Ronald McDonald house's cause but this should be turned into an inn due to it's historic value. Think of the architect. If his work was turned into something of that small importance it would destroy him. Just like The Marion, it should be held of architectual value. Any building with a name shouldn't be turned into some just mediocre thing. This should be turned into something that tourists will come from out of state to see and that's just what my family plans to do with it.
Thanks

Not totally gutted but needs to be. There are 14 apartments, some are efficiencies and some are one-bedrooms. The end units have fireplaces. Most of the apartments are full of junk- flourescent light boxes, ducts, old funace parts, etc.

The building needs someone with vision and alot of resources.

That would be an EXCELLENT idea. I hate seeing this building just sitting there. It's so beautiful. You should contact the appropriate people and suggest that!

I have been in love with this building for years. It makes me sad to see it sitting empty and deteriorating more and more each year. I was so excited to finally find out the history of this grand old building. Lets hope the owner finally decides to sell it to someone that will bring it back to its glory.

I work for the state and pass the Walcourt everyday. I've been praying for this building and location, asking to have the upper floor for my family home and Disciple Leadership Day Spa and New Business Ministry Classes, on the first floor. The only Spirit that will reside here will be the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ. Asking also that the owner of Walcourt please contact me.

There have been numerous people who have tried to make a deal... but alas the owner has no interest in making any deal.

The interior is not totally gutted. There is at least one apartment upstairs that is in decent shape. There were 14 units. All of the interior doors are slatted, like shutters. The apartment I saw had a fireplace, wood floors and a bathroom with a built-in floor to ceiling vanity. the building has been vacant for 32 years. The lady that owns it keeps the utilities on and keeps the yard mowed. Unfortunately, this is all that is required from the City to avoid the building being considered dilapidated. It is a real shame.
